SHAH ALAM, July 7 — The seizure of assets is among the mechanisms being considered by the Selangor government against husbands who evade and default on court-ordered ‘nafkah” (financial support) maintenance.

KLANG, March 24 — The government has concluded the engagement session with states on the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355) which includes the proposal to increase penalties for syariah criminal offences.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — The amendment to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355) will take into consideration the proposal for the formulation of a Syariah Courts (Federal Territories) Act, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has ordered the immediate establishment of a special committee to conduct an in-depth and critical study on the competency of State Legislative Assemblies to enact Islamic laws under state enactments and the jurisdiction of Syariah Courts.
